A LUCKY group of collectors has stumbled upon a vast coin collection in a storage locker.
They detailed their find online, which included thousands of coins that were never circulated or contained specific minting errors.

Rare coin expert and TikToker Eric Miller (@thecoinchannel) reviewed the discovery earlier this year and spotted a particular penny that could be worth at least $1,600 thanks to a fairly uncommon mistake.
“This one caught my eye,” Miller said in a clip showing a 1972 penny that the collecting group found in the storage locker sealed in some packaging.
While at first glance there would seem to be nothing exceptional about the penny, a small note was written by the former owner of the storage unit that read, “major error” and “dbld in god we trust.”
“The 1972 penny is very famous for one error,” Miller explained of the note.
“See how it says ‘doubled?’ Well, that’s exactly what you’re looking for.”
Miller continued that what’s known as a double printing error on the penny could be spotted on the In God We Trust phrase at the top of its heads side, along with Liberty on the lower left and the date of 1972 on the lower right.
A closer look showed that the words and the date were printed twice and overlapped.
CASHING OUT
The double printing mistake is so famous for the 1972 penny that they sell for around $685 on eBay when ungraded by the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS).
Getting the penny graded would make it more valuable, as it confirms its authenticity and condition.
Miller noted that the graded double-printed 1972 pennies are so rare they could be worth upwards of $1,662.
Along with quarters, pennies from various years in United States history contain some of the most valuable errors.
All it takes is some digging to potentially find a few gems that could bee considerably more than one cent.
PENNY PAY UP
For example, all 1922 pennies were minted in Denver, making for a D being struck on all of the coins in circulation under the year.
A few squeaked out into the public missing the D, making them extremely valuable, according to another video from Miller.

After coming across one in good condition and having it graded by the PCGS, a collector made $26,868.75 selling it recently.
Another coin expert and influencer also pointed out a unique aspect of some 1992 pennies that makes them worth tens of thousands.
Minting for the coins started to differ that year for the letter spacing on “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” per Lincoln Cents Online.
The letters became more spread out, but some were still minted by accident with the limited spacing.
While they are scarce, finding one could result in a similar $26,000 value.
Another penny from a different year also sold for $54,000 at auction because of a unique error.
