A Certified Public Accountant (Chartered) and three-time governorship candidate in Ogun State, Mr. Lanre Banjo, has asked women to support their husbands to succeed.
Banjo said this recently in an address he delivered at the University of the District of Columbia, United States of America titled, “Family Matters: Positive Men Influenced by Women.”
In a copy of the address made available to Saturday PUNCH, Banjo said in history, men who were supported by their wives were the ones who succeeded most.
He said, “A home without a woman cannot be a completely happy home. As will be proved, one would be convinced that husbands may be the heads of the households, women are the necks.
“There are many great men in the world that would not have been great without the unflinching support of their wives.”
In the speech, Banjo mentioned men who succeeded based on their wives’ support to include the late civil rights activist, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.; the 32nd US President, late Franklin Delano Roosevelt; former US President, Barak Obama; late Chief Obafemi Awolowo; and late Chief Gani Fawehinmi.
Asking women to emulate the wives of the aforementioned, Banjo said, “Stand in his corner and fight with him against the world, rather than back him into a corner. Every man wants a woman on his side when he is in the midst of a trial. Be the kind of wife who cheers him on so he can win the battle.
“Support him in his endeavours. By believing in him and following him, this makes him feel like he can conquer anything. Esteem him in public. If a woman practices all these, she would be a valuable asset to the man in her life and would not be a deadly liability.”
