The City of Edmonton lifted its citywide parking ban Saturday night at 7 p.m.

After Edmonton’s first snowfall, the city effected a Phase 1 parking ban on Tuesday, which prohibited parking on arterial and collector roads as well as freeways, bus routes and areas with “Seasonal No Parking” signs so that snow-removal crews could clear major roads.

In a public service announcement issued Saturday, Andrew Grant, general supervisor of infrastructure field operations for the city, thanked Edmontonians for their co-operation, which allowed snow removal crews to effectively and efficiently complete their work.

However, the announcement added, residents should be prepared for more parking bans this winter, noting the city provides notification at least eight hours before implementing one.
