CFD said a woman in her 60s died.
The other victims include a boy around 7 years old in serious condition, a man in his 60s in fair condition and a woman in her 30s in critical condition.
An investigation is underway.
Renaldo Vera said he was sleeping when his dog started barking, and then heard his neighbor’s window break.
“I screamed out the window to see if everything was okay, and she said no,” he said. “I ran downstairs, went across to where they were at.”
Vera said another person was breaking out the windows to the house that was burning, and he helped get the boy out.
“As he broke the windows out, he brought him out, he was laying him there. I grabbed him, I took him across the street. Then i went back and helped his mother out. She was coming out of the window, and I just went in to help them. That’s it. Anybody would have done the same,” Vera said.
Hats off to a neighbor near the fire this morning. His dog heard the screams and woke him. He went to the fire building and helped rescue a child and adult before CFD got on scene. Thank you so much Mr. Renaldo Vera! And thanks to his pit bull named Chicago
