Over 40,000 air conditioners are being recalled across Canada due to mold exposure

According to the agency, the problem stems from water not draining properly inside the units, which can lead to mold growth. Breathing in mold spores can trigger symptoms like coughing, sneezing, sore throat, or allergic reactions. So far, five related cases have been reported in Canada, and more than 150 in the U.S., including 17 that led to respiratory symptoms.</p><p>The recall affects several popular brands, including:</p> <ul> <li> Midea</li> <li> Frigidaire</li> <li> Danby</li> <li> Insignia</li> <li> Perfect Aire</li> </ul> <p>These units come in 8,000, 10,000, and 12,000 BTU sizes, and were sold between March 2020 and May 2025. Each one is white, has a remote control, and is compatible with mobile apps. The brand name is printed on the front and model numbers can be found on a label on the front-right side.</p><p>If you own one, <a href="https://www.mtlblog.com/tag/health-canada" target="_blank">Health Canada</a> says you should contact Midea right away.
