UPDATE (1:05 p.m.): The Nation Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for north-central Minnesota.
The warning includes Beltrami, Clearwater, Hubbard and Wadena counties. It’s scheduled to last until midnight.
According to forecasters, those in the warning area should expect heavy snow, with accumulations up to eight inches in some areas. Travel could be difficult during the evening commute.
Additionally, as temperatures drop in the evening, wind chill factors could be as low as 25 below zero. That’s cold enough for frostbite to set in on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Get ready for another helping of December snow Tuesday.
Light snow began falling in the Twin Cities by mid-morning, but the bulk of the storm will hit in the afternoon, starting right around 1 p.m. Snow will continue in the metro until around sundown.

Northern Minnesota will also get hit — 3 to 5 inches of snow expected — with some parts possibly seeing 7 inches. The metro area will see 1 to 3 inches of snow.
After the snow, temperatures will plummet. Overnight, we’ll take our first trip below zero since Feb. 20.
“When you wake up Wednesday, it’s going to be cold,” meteorologist Katie Steiner said.

It will stay cold throughout the week and into the weekend, with highs in the 5 to 15 degree range. Several nights will be below zero.
There are a couple more chances of snow throughout the week, including Thursday and Saturday.
The weekend, including New Year’s Day on Saturday, will be freezing with high temps not making it to the double digits. However, temperatures will feel below zero due to winds.
Most of the Twin Cities saw between 1 and 4 inches of snow following Sunday night’s storm, but central Minnesota got the brunt of the snowfall. According to the National Weather Service, St. Mathias — just south of Brainerd — recorded 18 inches of snow.
Sunday’s snowfall, along with a bout of freezing rain Monday morning, left roads slick. The Minnesota State Patrol said it responded to 130 crashes between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., including 13 with injuries. There were also 155 vehicles that left the road and 17 jackknifed semis.
