An alleged gunman has been rushed to hospital in a critical condition after being shot by police, ending a six-hour standoff in Brisbane's south.
A police spokeswoman said the man was shot between about 7.30pm and 7.45pm on Tuesday after raising his weapon at police. She could not say how many shots police fired.
The spokeswoman said there was nothing to indicate the incident, at a business centre on Compton Road, Stretton, was ideologically motivated.

The 48-year-old first entered the precinct about 1.20pm, when police were advised of a disturbance.
But it wasn't until about 3pm police say he brandished a firearm, prompting specialist officers to rush to the scene.

The police spokeswoman said there were members of the public locked in the business centre throughout, but they were separated from the alleged gunman and not threatened or injured.
The 48-year-old was fighting for life at the Princess Alexandra Hospital on Monday night.
Police remained on the scene while the ethical standards command investigated the incident, as part of standard procedure in any police shooting.
Police had earlier shut down traffic on Compton Road in both directions and evacuated several businesses
Detours were in place to Condamine and Gowan Roads, causing significant delays.
Compton Road reopened westbound about 8.30pm.

A gunman has been reported inside a Brisbane business, with police blocking surrounding traffic as they investigate the incident.
It's believed the man entered the Compton Road business in Stretton, armed with a firearm, this afternoon.
Police have shut down traffic on Compton Road in both directions and it's understood several highly trained specialist police officers are on the scene.
Detours are in place to Condamine and Gowan Roads, with significant delays expected for some time.
