Boris Johnson has had no shortage of bad days in the office since becoming Prime Minister but this might just be his worst yet.
Johnson apologised ‘unreservedly’ for a video showing Downing Street officials joking about a staff party during the peak of lockdown last December.
He said he had asked the cabinet secretary to investigate and would hand over any evidence of law-breaking to the police.
Just in case you need a recap of the story so far.
I *think* this is the timeline:
There was no party.
There may or may not have been a party but I'm assured by people who attended the party that no rules were broken.

If there was a piss-up at No 10 last Christmas it’s very unlikely Boris organised it. Because, well, you know.

It's not difficult. He will say absolutely *anything* to get himself out of short term trouble. Whether he's talking to wives, mistresses, colleagues, the Commons or voters. The truth *never* has anything to do with any of it. He lies as easily as he breathes. And he always will.

Oh my god. Oh my god. @BorisJohnson you are a complete and utter disgrace. Gaslighting, obfuscation, accusing the opposition of playing politics. Step down.

This whole incident is the greatest self-own in criminal legal history since my client who wrote down his name and address on a piece of paper and accidentally dropped it in the house that he burgled. https://t.co/fKNEIIFUJe
