There was a twist in the tail of today’s PMQs, where along with the relentless and hilarious mockery of Boris Johnson from the opposition benches, there was also a call for him to resign from a familiar face on the PM’s own side.
It was Tory grandee David Davis (you remember) and it was quite the dramatic moment.
“You have sat there too long for all the good you have done, in the name of God go” Tory MP David Davis says
“I don’t know what he’s talking about” Boris Johnson replies “I take full responsibility for everything done throughout the pandemic”

It prompted a huge amount of comment as you would imagine.
And we’ve read it all – well, quite a lot of it – so you don’t have to, and here are our favourite responses.

so far today multiple Tories have sent in letters calling for his resignation, an MP has defected to Labour and David Davis has compared him to Neville Chamberlain saying "in the name of God go"
and these are the people that like Boris Johnson

Quick reminder that Johnson is a biographer of Churchill. So either he conducted his biographical duties so badly he really doesn’t know the quote, or he was even lying then, by pretending he did not know of it.

Boris Johnson says "I have no idea what quotation he's alluding to" when David Davis quotes Leo Amery's famous "in the name of God, go" in calling for PM to resign.
But he also claims in the bibliography of his Churchill bio to have read two volumes of Leo Amery's diaries pic.twitter.com/Mj6bNlS5Al
