Edmonton police investigating first suspicious death of 2022

At about 1:30 a.m. Monday, officers responded to a report of an assault at a shelter near 100 Street and 105A Avenue.

When officers arrived, paramedics were treating a 54-year-old man before transporting him to hospital where he later died.

The homicide section has taken over the investigation and witness interviews are ongoing.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Thursday.

If confirmed as a homicide, it would be Edmonton’s first for 2022.
