Garfield Park Conservatory Agave Plant Reaches New Heights

CHICAGO (CBS) — There are no signs of slowing down for a large agave plant at the Garfield Park Conservatory.

It’s now 15 feet tall and still growing. It was only expected to be just four to six feet. There’s also a second quiote, which is also unusual. This is the only time in its 35-year life that it will bloom. That happens just before the plant slowly dies.

The conservatory had another tall agave in 2019. It got up to 38 feet and went through the roof.
