A senior member of the Hamze family has been extradited back to Sydney after being arrested on the Gold Coast yesterday.

Ibrahem Hamze had allegedly been hiding out there after a shooting last November, where bullets were sprayed into a childcare centre in Prospect in Sydney's west, narrowly missing a toddler.

He briefly appeared in a Gold Coast court this morning where it was determined he would be extradited to NSW escorted by police.

Mr Hamze is set to reappear in Central Local Court in Sydney on Thursday.

Mr Hamze is the third person to be arrested over that shooting and was also considered the last man standing in his family, caught up in a bloody feud with the Alameddine clan.

His cousin Ghassan Amoun was gunned down outside a beauty parlour earlier this month.

His brother Bilal was shot dead in the city in June last year, while another relative Salim Hamze and his father were killed in October.

In August, police foiled a hit on Mr Hamze's life when they intercepted a car allegedly on the way to execute him at North Sydney.
