Nigeria Entertainment Today (Netng), the world’s number one source for African Entertainment has released a new documentary on Davido – ‘We Rise: The Davido Story.’
The documentary is a body of work that looks into the life of one of Nigeria’s greatest contemporary artistes covering his early life, family, musical interest and growth in the 10 years of his career.
It premiered on Saturday, January 15, 2022, and is a first of its kind documentary that focuses on the life of the 29-year old superstar who released his first album at the age of 20.
The documentary provides rare insight into Davido’s growth revealed by leading stakeholders in the music industry, journalists and those who knew him before he became a global phenomenon.
It also looks into his challenges, ups and downs, fandom, tragedies, and current engagement. There is a recurring theme of togetherness and helping others as a framework for individual growth present in the documentary.
The documentary features original interviews with leading entertainment industry figures such as founder and CEO of Storm 360, Obi Asika and legendary international DJ, Jimmy Jatt, media personalities – Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi, Eromo Egbejule and Tosin Ajibade, and Davido’s music lecturer at Babcock University, Dr. Olusegun Ojuola.
Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi provided a rare insight into the life of Davido as an aspiring artiste and how he gave her a CD of his first musical foray. His lecturer, Dr Ojuola also spoke about the impact of education on Davido’s music career.
