When we sit down to watch a film, there’s an understanding that we’re suspending our disbelief.

It isn’t just for the swords and sorcery films or big-budget musicals, either – it’s for the romcoms, the Christmas feel-good movies and anything that involves a character getting a parking space exactly outside the place they’re visiting.
