Huawei's latest piece of tech is turning heads, with a pair of wireless earbuds disguised as a shiny red beauty product and a gift box to match.

It's no gimmick. The FreeBuds Lipstick are the latest in Huawei's FreeBuds series and offer all the same features as the real thing.

Looking past the FreeBuds Lipstick's unusual design, they are packed with features to justify the near-$400 price tag.

Much like Huawei's standard FreeBuds, the Lipstick features the same noise-cancelling technology, as well as gesture controls to navigate phone calls and volume.

Huawei describes the FreeBuds as having an "ultra-chic design" with a "luxury-grade stainless-steel body".

This new shade offers 22 hours of music playback with a fully charged case, or around four hours of playback with the earbuds fully charged.

While the colour and design of the product is blatantly marketed towards women, the earbuds are sure to make others red with envy (myself included).

A typical lipstick weighs about 3.4g and each FreeBud weighs just 4.1 grams.

As if the product itself wasn't quirky enough, the gift box (or packaging) comes with its own scent.

The new FreeBuds Lipstick is available now online through Huawei or select retailers and priced at $399.
