Three Ontario men are facing charges in relation to a series of thefts of Ford F-150 trucks in Edmonton.
In February, the Edmonton Police Service alerted the public to a rash of thefts of newer model Ford F-150 trucks. At the time, about 20 trucks were stolen throughout the city and the surrounding area.
Those responsible were targeting 2017-2020 model year F-150s with push-button ignitions. Police say the suspects were using “sophisticated technology” to bypass the trucks’ anti-theft systems.
In an update Wednesday, police said that following an investigation, Michael Pohlod, 34, Harshdeep Binner, 23, and Riyasad Singh, 22, are facing a number of charges including theft of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property over $5,000, and possession of break-in instruments.
Police said more than 40 trucks were reported stolen over the course of their investigation, and seven have been recovered to date by the service’s Targeted Response to Auto-theft Prevention team.
The investigation continues.
