It’s been a week since Akinade ‘Gaise Baba’ Ibuoye, dropped his sophomore album ‘A Decade After’ that took him two years to complete.
During his visit to Netng’s office in Ikeja, Lagos, on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, ahead of the album release on Friday, February 25, 2022, the fast-rising Urban Gospel singer explained the story behind the new 13-track album and why it took two years to release.
“The album is inspired by my journey in the music industry,” he said. “I came into the industry in 2010, so we started working on the album in 2020, so it was A Decade After.”
He said the album is his way of capturing his journey as a professional musician in 10 years, the ups and downs, lessons and victories.
Since releasing his debut album ‘GAISEBABA’ in 2011, he has remained consistent in the industry, following the success of the debut album with xxx albums and one EP released in October 2021.
Gaise, formerly signed to ID Cabasa’s Coded Tunes, said the legendary Producer, who has produced some of the biggest hits out of Nigeria from the early 2000s, produced eight tracks on the album.
“It’s a 13-track album. Eight tracks were produced by ID Cabasa, two by T Babs; Password and DJ Klemz produced one track each; while one is a live performance ‘Gbagbe Oshi’ at Lounge 464,” he said.
The album touched issues like politics and greed of the political class, infidelity, which has become a viral trend, and salvation message to win back souls to Christ.
Gaise Baba featured artistes like Nosa, Izee Smith, Tobi Toun, and Angeloh.
