Jacob Rees-Mogg took time out from his busy schedule trying to work out a benefit of Brexit to share his thoughts on Partygate and all those parties that took place in Downing Street while the rest of the country was obeying the lockdown rules.
And it went viral because, well, have a listen to this (it’s not long, honest).
Jacob Rees-Mogg – #Partygate is nonsense & trivial & just the fluff of politics…. pic.twitter.com/tkbsBTaL8T

There were plenty of on-point responses.
Dear Jacob Rees-Mogg, some young folk, fleeing an illegal gathering during lockdown, were tasered by police, and wound up in court with hefty fines. Not ‘just fluff’ for them.

Rees-Mogg misled the Queen about the unlawful proroguing of Parliament, dismissed Brexit’s betrayal of the fishing industry by wittering about ‘British’ fish being ‘happier’, led the abortive Owen Paterson rescue attempt & continues to lie about vaccines. He’s fluff personified.

It takes a war for Rees-Mogg to be reminded that the world is serious. The world was always serious; indeed lockdown was serious; it was intended to prevent death. People went through unimaginable pain because they understood what serious meant. Pin-stripe fluff here. https://t.co/S4kmDAuKVI

Unlike Jacob Rees-Mogg, some of us are able to be angry about two things at the same time

But Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid surely said it best.
No, JRM. Being furious the Prime Minister may have broken the law by holding gatherings when people couldn’t visit loved ones – even when they were dying – is not “fluff” “trivial” and “nonsense” and saying this is a total outrage. https://t.co/QaC4FD6l0c

And there was no end of people saying this.
thank you Susanna
