Netng subscribers and readers have voted the pair of Itohan and Jordan as the most outstanding duet performers during the first round of theatre week.
75 contestants had gotten golden tickets out of thousands of applicants that auditioned for the Nigerian idol season 7 show. With 75 contestants impressing the judges enough to make it to the next round, the show became tougher.
Contestants were first asked to sing a line of the chorus of a song before 25 people were asked to go home and the remaining 50 got into the competition proper. They were paired by the judges and asked to select random songs to sing as a duo.
Many of the pairs impressed the judges and were asked to go to the next round. According to a poll conducted by Netng however, the duo of Jordan, the guitarist and basketballer and 17-year old Itohan were the best. They sang You Are the Reason by Calum Scott and Leona Lewis. Their performance impressed the judges – Simi, Obi Asika and D’banj – so much that they did not bother to consult before giving them a pass to the next round.
Netng readers share the same sentiment as they voted overwhelmingly for the duo. They got 67 percent of the total votes cast, which was more than what the other three pairs got combined
