Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has donated 14 ballistic gunboats to security agencies in the state as part of efforts to support the Federal Government’s fight against crime.
Speaking on Friday during the commissioning of the gunboats, Governor Wike warned that the nation’s economy will continue to be in distress if security agencies and other government authorities fail to sincerely tackle the menace of crude oil theft, which remains the greatest contributor to the country’s GDP.
Wike, therefore, vowed to continue to support the fight against crime.
The gunboats were commissioned by the Chief of Army Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo.
