A security guard at the British Embassy in Berlin has been charged with nine offences related to the collection and communication of information useful to the Russian state.
David Ballantyne Smith, 57, a British national who was living in Potsdam, Germany, will appear in court Thursday.
He was arrested by German police in August last year and extradited to the U.K. Wednesday, the Metropolitan Police said in a statement.
The alleged offences under the Official Secrets Act were committed between October 2020 and August 2021.
