Colombo, April 16 (newsin.asia) – The call for Youth For Youth invokes feelings of leadership in the youth generation. At a time when the country is under turbulence and economic crisis, it falls upon the youth generation to pick up the mantle of leadership for the success of the nation.
Youth For Youth will bring the platform for the young generation of Sri Lanka to embark on a leadership journey of uncovering their hidden potential through AIESEC.
What is Youth For Youth?
Youth For Youth is the largest youth leadership upscaling project initiated by AIESEC Sri Lanka in the hopes of delivering leadership experiences to the nation’s youth. The project will bring together over 100,000 youth from across Sri Lanka into one platform of AIESEC.
AIESEC is one of the world’s largest youth-run organizations. And having established its vision of developing young leaders in over 120 countries worldwide and by the year 2022, AIESEC in Sri Lanka reached its pinnacle of 27 years of delivering youth experiences across the country, and in commemoration of the AIESEC legacy in Sri Lanka, AIESEC Sri Lanka is set to launch the largest youth volunteer mobilization project, Youth For Youth, a project By Youth, For Youth, starting from the month of April 2022.
Why?
The call for Youth For Youth invokes feelings of leadership in the youth generation. At a time when the country is under turbulence and economic crisis, it falls upon the youth generation to pick up the mantle of leadership for the success of the nation. The current circumstances surrounding Sri Lanka as a nation have brought to light the importance of youth leadership, and this has paved the path for many of the young generations to rethink the values surrounding leadership. This brings youth to the common ground of the AIESEC vision of “developing youth leadership through challenging spaces”.
Youth For Youth will bring the platform for the young generation of Sri Lanka to embark on a leadership journey of uncovering their hidden potential through AIESEC. The opportunity to engage with AIESEC through Youth For Youth will be open for all of the nation’s young generation from all 25 districts of the island and will bridge the gap of communication with its trilingual communication forms. Youth For Youth will open its door to all of Sri Lanka’s youth in schools, universities, educational institutes and any and all youth between the ages of 18 – 30.
The project has obtained the endorsement from the Ministry of Youth in Sri Lanka and will also feature well-known corporate personalities, public figures, renowned media companies, and foreign youth undergraduates as well to give the exposure of mixed opportunities to develop oneself for the future.
Through Youth For Youth, AIESEC Sri Lanka hopes to create more awareness of youth leadership and expects to launch a series of LEAD clubs in schools to expand the AIESEC network while aiming to nurture the young minds towards leadership from a young age.
When and Where?
Project Youth For Youth will span over a period of fourteen days starting from the press conference on 30th of April. It will be followed by the Opening Event which is a Youth Leaders Summit on the 07th of May, where young leaders will get to learn and share their opinions about how they can make an impact through interactive sessions and real-world problem-solving experiences.
On the 08th of May, there will be leadership development lessons dedicated to the higher educational institutes.
The island-wide largest youth development lesson program will commence on the 10th of May to 12th of May impacting all 25 districts of Sri Lanka including youth clubs and 300 schools.
The project will mark its conclusion on the 14th of May and upon the successful conclusion of Youth For Youth, the brand ambassador program will launch to provide the youth, the essence of leadership through AIESEC.
Impact
Through Youth For Youth, as AIESEC, we expect to develop profound leaders in the country starting from the school level. And with the engagement of the Sri Lankan youth together with youth from over 30 countries we hope to showcase the importance of leadership in the challenging world that lay ahead for the youth.
