Nigerian producers have refused to be the backend guys and have moved to the forefront of hits making in the Nigerian music industry.
With the emergence of Rexxie, DJ Spinall, and DJ Neptune, these music industry professionals who used to take the back burner have started showing their diversity and skills in the mainstream music space.
Udomboso ‘Young Jonn’ Saviours, known for his iconic tagline ‘it’s Young Jonn the wicked producer,’ is on a roll this year with the release of his EP ‘Love Is Not Enough’ and recently a remix of ‘Dada’ featuring multi-award-winning star, Davido.
‘Dada’ is from his 5-song EP, ‘Love Is Not Enough’, released on April 1, 2022. He recently released the remix featuring Davido, and it has become another viral hit.
In this song, he is pinning over a girl who has left, possibly after a breakup he caused, because he keeps promising not to ‘jade sita mo’, a Yoruba phrase that literally means cheating on your partner.
Aside from the excellent storytelling, the beat is perfect; it’s not lacking the vibe and groove that is an essential part of Nigerian music. I mean, it’s Young Jonn, the wicked producer!
From how the sound is stacked, from the simple piano chords to the addition of the drums, the whole sound builds up so nicely that it makes the song addicting to listen to.
What better way to elevate an already great song than to feature the King of features, Davido, while Young Jonn is grovelling and promising love to his girl, Davido brags, ‘I no dey fear billing.’ Reiterating his ‘when money enters love is sweeter’ tag line popularised in his 2018 hit ‘Assurance’.
‘Dada’, a Yoruba word for Good, was produced by Niphkeys and Young Jonn.
Apart from his highly recommended EP, Young Jonn has earned his flowers producing hit singles like Eyan Mayweather, Story For The Gods by Olamide, Efejoku and Gbese by Lil Kesh, Biggest Backside by Davido and more.
In March 2022, Young Jonn unveiled his record deal with Chocolate City with the release of Dada. Dada remix is a strong 7/10.
