EU leaders will gather Monday and Tuesday for their latest summit, where Russia’s war in Ukraine will once again be the focus.
At issue is not just a stalled ban on Russian oil purchases, which has been held up over Hungary’s objections, but also rising energy costs and looming global food shortages — all spillover effects from Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will directly address EU leaders on Monday, amid his calls for the bloc to impose more penalties on Russia and to expand military equipment shipments to Ukraine. Funding Ukraine’s rebuild is also on the agenda.
