The police claimed in a statement that 59 social media groups and their administrators had been discovered in connection with inciting violence during the protests.

The police stated that the social media groups and administrators had been identified, and that legal action has been initiated.
The Sri Lanka Police Department also warned the people that if they are proven to have incited violence through social media during the turmoil, legal action will be taken.
