Passengers at Sydney Airport have faced long queues again, as staff shortages continue to create chaos.

Both international and domestic terminals have been hit, forcing thousands of travellers to wait for hours to get through to the departure lounges.

Lengthy lines snaked well out of the security screening area this morning, as they have multiple times over the past few weeks, including at Easter.

Passengers vented their frustrations on social media.

Darren Ashley said he'd waited two hours, with less than half of the checkpoints open.

Another woman on Twitter claimed the line for security checks was "kilometres long."

Sydney Airport bosses continues to blame the long lines on the ongoing problem of staff shortages in security, and struggles to rehire people in the tight jobs market.

COVID-19 isolation rules, though eased, are also causing issues.

April 14 was was the busiest day for travel since the pandemic began, with more than 88,000 travellers using Melbourne Airport, 82,000 heading through Sydney Airport, 59,000 through Brisbane Airport and 25,000 through Adelaide.
