In response to the online video publication by music artist, Habeeb Okikiola popularly known as “Portable”, on May 25, 2022, Smooth Promotions Limited, the organisers of The Headies, hereby inform the general public as follows:
I. In the video, Mr Okikiola who received two Headies nominations made verbal threats to harm or cause harm to other nominees in both award categories if he does not receive the award.
II. The Headies condemns such acts and are vehemently opposed to the utterance of any threats or actions that contravene our laws.
ii. We have notified the Nigerian Police Force of Mr Okikiola’s actions to fellow nominees of the awards.
IV. Also, a demand tor the immediate retraction ot the video trom Mr Okikiola’s social media platforms as well as a written apology to the nominees in both categories and to I he Headies has been made
V. Should Mr Okikiola fail to meet our demands, we would not only disqualify him from participating in the Headies but also enforce the instrumentalities of the law to the fullest.
VI. The general public are hereby implored to disregard the video and stop the dissemination of same in the public space.
Portable was nominated for Best Street-Hop Artiste and the Rookie Of The Year award for the forthcoming edition of The Headies award in September.
