British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said it was vital that the United Kingdom continues to support Ukraine as the war drags on.
“When Ukraine fatigue is setting in, it is very important to show that we are with them for the long haul and we are giving them the strategic resilience that they need,” Johnson said on Saturday as he arrived back from a surprise visit to the Ukrainian capital.
“The Russians are grinding forward inch by inch and it is vital for us to show what we know to be true which is that Ukraine can win and will win,” said Johnson, who is facing criticism for missing a conference in northern England to travel to Kyiv.
In a statement this morning, the U.K. Defense Ministry said it was likely that Russia would renew its attempts to advance into the Donetsk Oblast in eastern Ukraine.
