Police are investigating whether a fight over a girl led to a teenager being fatally stabbed in Sydney's west early this morning.
The 16-year-old boy was at a gathering with other young people at a home on Australis Drive, Ropes Crossing, when he was stabbed around 3am this morning.
When emergency services arrived, police attempted to revive the teenager before paramedics arrived but he died at the scene.

"Young boys probably with hormones running through their system and somebody thought they had to defend the right of their girlfriend at the scene and that has led to a young boy being killed," Tickner said.
"They shouldn't be carrying knives in the first place."
Tickner added the stabbing is not believed to be gang-related.
