Tuesday's letters: Adding ICU beds useless without staffing

Ms. Danielle Smith, in a recent article, suggests that Alberta Health Services leadership either were incompetent or “deliberately” sabotaged the government by not creating enough ICU beds during the pandemic, which then forced Jason Kenney to institute lockdowns and other measures. In this, she demonstrates a profound lack of knowledge of how the health system actually works. “Beds” are useless without the staff, (including physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, et cetera) to make these beds functional.
