Earlier today, I watched as a kid tore down a sidewalk on what can best be described an electric motorcycle. The same thing one sees all over countries like China, except in China people ride these on roads, wear helmets, obey traffic regulations, and display licences. In Edmonton, what started out as a good idea (battery-augmented bicycles) has morphed into heavy and silent vehicles with fat tires, capable of speeds well over 30 km/h, and driven anywhere they want by helmet-less riders following no rules.
