CHICAGO (CBS) – At least one person dead, and 29 others are wounded in shootings across the city as of Sunday. The ages of the victims range from 17 to 66.
The first homicide of the weekend happened at 8:07 p.m. Saturday in the 1100 block of North Lockwood Avenue in South Austin. Police said two men were apparently shooting each other.
One man, 31, was shot in the face and died at Mount Sinai Hospital. The other man, believed to be between 25 and 30, was shot in the leg, arm, and torso and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition.
In the first shooting of the weekend, a man, 31, suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the leg in the 100 block of South Cicero Avenue on the city’s’ West Side around 6 p.m. Friday.
The victim was transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital In good condition.
Another man, 21, was shot while on a CTA Red Line train at the 69th Street stop Friday evening.
Police said around 5:46 p.m., the victim was on the train when he was approached by an unknown offender who produced a handgun and fired shots.
The victim was struck to the shoulder and was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center initially reported in fair condition. A person of interest was transported to the area for questioning.
A man, 22 was shot inside a residence Friday, in the 6400 block of South Kenwood Avenue in Woodlawn, around 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Police say he was approached by an unknown offender who produced a handgun and fired shots.
The victim was struck to the right leg and was transported to U of C Hospital initially reported in critical condition.
Officers responded to the 13000 block of South Drexel Avenue in the Altgeld Gardens area around 9:02 p.m. Friday for a call of a person shot.
A man, 35, was found shot in the torso and was transported to U of C in fair condition. The victim was uncooperative with details.
A man, 31, victim self-transported to U of C after suffering a gunshot wound to the stomach and arm in the 8800 block of South Princeton Avenue around 10:20 pm. The victim is listed in fair condition.
A man, 24, was shot while filling his vehicle with gas at a gas station Saturday morning in the 4900 block of South Cicero Avenue on the city’s Southwest Side around 1 a.m.
Police say the victim heard multiple shots fired and felt pain. He was shot in the left foot and was transported to Mt. Sinai where he is listed in good condition.
An off-duty Chicago Police officer, 31, was shot in the back during an argument around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, in the 2400 block of West 104th Street in Beverly.
The victim was struck once in the back and was transported to Christ Hospital where he is listed in fair condition.
In other incidents since 5 p.m. Friday:
• At 4:21 p.m. Saturday, a 24-year-old man was shot in the lower right thigh in the 1200 block of West 71st Street in Englewood. He was at a repass/party when he heard shots and realized he had been shot. He was taken to St. Bernard Hospital in good condition.
• At 4:58 p.m. Saturday, a 66-year-old man was shot in the back near the upper right shoulder in the 6600 block of South Stewart Avenue in Englewood. He was leaving a residence in the gangway when he saw another man running south and heard shots and felt pain. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition.
• At 7:03 p.m. Saturday, an 18-year-old man was traveling in a vehicle when someone people standing in the street shot toward the car and struck the man. He self-transported to St. Bernard Hospital in good condition with a gunshot wound to the ear.
• At 7:30 p.m. Saturday, a 61-year-old woman was standing on a front porch in the 10500 block of South Eggleston Avenue in Fernwood when two people came out of a gangway and fired shots. The woman was shot in the right thigh and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in good condition. She was not the intended target.
· At 8:07 p.m. Saturday, in the 1100 block of North Lockwood, police responded to a person shot and found two men with gunshot wounds. A 31-year-old man was shot in the face and was transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The second man, approximately 25 to 30 years of age, suffered gunshot wounds to the leg, arm, and torso and was transported to Mt. Sinai in serious condition. Preliminary investigation indicates that there was possibly an exchange of gunfire between the two individuals.
· At 12:26 a.m. Sunday, in the 6300 block of South Spaulding, a 25-year-old man was walking outside when he heard shots fired and felt pain. The victim was shot in the heel of his foot and was transported to Holy Cross Hospital in good condition.
· At 12:58 a.m. Sunday, in the 500 block of East 71st Street, a 24-year-old man was standing outside when he was shot at by an unidentified offender traveling eastbound on 91st in a dark-colored pickup truck. The victim was shot in the hand and foot and was transported to U of C in good condition.
· At 12:55 a.m. Sunday, in the 3000 block of West Lexington, a 17-year-old girl was outside when she heard multiple shots fired and felt pain. The victim was shot twice in the abdomen and was transported to Mt. Sinai in serious condition.
· At 1:32 a.m. Sunday, in the 300 block of East 72nd Street, a 22-year-old woman was removing items from her vehicle when she saw an unidentified male offender shoot in her direction. The male offender then entered a dark-colored vehicle and fled from the scene. The victim was shot in the arm and was transported to U of C in good condition.
· At 1:11 a.m. Sunday, in the 400 block of South State Street, Police responded to a person shot and found multiple victims once they arrived on the scene. A 29-year-old man was shot in the neck, jaw, and chest and was transported to Northwestern in critical condition. The second victim, a 41-year-old man suffered a graze wound to the leg and was transported to Northwestern in good condition. The third man, 27, was shot in the foot and was transported to Stroger Hospital in good condition. The fourth victim, a 40-year-old woman was shot in the leg and knee and was transported to Northwestern in fair condition. A witness stated that the offender was shooting from a white sedan that was traveling Southbound on State.
· At 2:29 a.m. Sunday, in the 5100 block of South Harper, a 39-year-old man victim was outside when he was shot in the leg. The victim was transported to U of C in good condition.
· At 1:34 a.m. Sunday, in the 600 block of West Scott, a 24-year-old woman was outside standing next to her vehicle when she heard several shots fired and felt pain. The victim was transported to Northwestern Hospital with a graze wound to the back of the neck in good condition. The victim was unable to provide further details of the incident.
· At 2 a.m. Sunday, in the 3900 block of West Gladys, two men were outside when they were shot at by an unidentified offender. A 27-year-old male was shot in the arm and was transported to Stroger where he is listed in fair condition. A 42-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body and was transported to Stroger in critical condition.
· At 3:21 a.m. Sunday, in the 7400 block of North Sheridan, a 29-year-old woman was in a verbal altercation with a known female offender who produced a firearm and shot the victim before fleeing the scene. The victim was shot in the leg and was transported to St. Francis Hospital in fair condition.
· At 2:10 a.m. Sunday, in the 4400 block of South Lavergne, a 39-year-old man was outside when he heard shots fired and felt pain. The victim was shot in the arm and was transported to Mt. Sinai in serious condition. A second man, 33, was shot in the knee and was transported to Mt. Sinai in good condition.
· At 4:26 a.m. Sunday, in the 0-100 block of West Elm Street, two men, 37 and 39, suffered gunshot wounds to the body. The man, 37, was transported to Northwestern Hospital in serious condition. The male, 39, was transported to Northwestern Hospital in fair condition.
· At 12:01 p.m. Sunday, in the 10300 block of South Calumet, a man, 58, suffered a gunshot wound to the chin. The offender attempted to Rob a business at gunpoint when someone inside of the business shot him. The offender then fired shots back but did not strike anyone. The victim was transported to Christ Hospital in serious condition.
