A man has been arrested in Western Australia over the alleged 2005 murder of German backpacker Simone Strobel in New South Wales.
The 25-year-old's body was found under palm fronds on February 17 less than 100 metres from the Lismore Tourist Caravan Park, where she was last seen six days earlier following a night out with friends and then-boyfriend.
A 42-year-old man arrested today will be extradited to NSW and is expected to be charged with her murder.

A $1 million reward was offered in 2020 for anyone who could provide information that led to a conviction in Strobel's alleged murder.
The Bavarian Office of Criminal Investigation also announced a 10,000 Euro reward to residents in both Germany and Australia who could assist with the investigation back in 2014.
The man's arrest before sunrise was capture by police cameras.
Detectives are continuing to work on the investigation with counterparts in Germany.
