A New South Wales man has been charged with murder after allegedly killing his 82-year-old mother.
Police allege the 56-year-old man, from Tumbi Umbi on the Central Coast, assaulted the woman yesterday morning with a pot plant in the home they lived in together.
He then left the Eastern Road home, and later returned to ring emergency services.
Police say they received the call around 5.15pm and rushed to the scene to conduct a welfare check.
Inside the property they found the woman dead with head injuries.
The man was on the scene.
He was arrested and taken to Wyong Police Station where he was charged.
“The man has been charged with murder,” a statement read.
“He was refused bail to appear at Wyong Local Court later today.”
The home remains a crime scene as police investigate.
