The Magpie Collection: Mile Zero Dance’s new, nine-day dance festival begins Saturday with six days of seriously affordable workshops. These include Soni Dasmohapatra teaching Bhangra, beginner ballet with both Kathy Metzger and Jodie Vandekerkhove, Métis jigging with Rebecca Sadowski and Asian contemporary dance with Minggao Zhang. Also on the menu are a couple free workshops, one on grant writing by Vandekerkhove and a contact improvisation workshop and jam with Shira Ben Yoav. It all starts with a workshop by Edmonton-based performer Richard Lee 2 p.m. Saturday, and you can find and peruse the whole workshop schedule at milezerodance.com. Read More
