A look at today’s Edmonton weather by Environment Canada.
Temperatures are staying warmer than average for the foreseeable future. This means we should take some precautions when out and about.
On Thursday, Alberta Health Services (AHS) and the City of Edmonton urged citizens to be cognizant of hydration and body temperature as temperatures soar over the weekend and into next week.
Staying hydrated, using sunscreen, and taking breaks from the heat are all important ways to beat the heat. Check in on elderly family members and don’t forget to keep your pets safe from the heat too.
People who are working outdoors should take regularly scheduled breaks in a cool place.
Symptoms of heat illness include dizziness, nausea, rapid breathing and heartbeat, extreme thirst, decreased urination, lack of sweat, confusion, fainting and unconsciousness.
We can have a lot of fun out there but remember to stay safe and take care of one another.
