Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the McDan Group of Companies, Daniel McKorley, has prompted the youth to be ready for opportunities as they emerge.
Speaking at a conference dubbed, ‘McDan Youth Connect – Impacting Youth Development with Entrepreneurship’, he noted that “where preparedness meets opportunity, success is inevitable.”
“At times, when we get the opportunities we are not ready but as a young man who is angry for success, you have to be ready so that when the opportunity comes, you will be able to grab it and run with it. So always keep at the back of your mind that where preparedness meets opportunity, success is inevitable,” he said at the event held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
The entrepreneur thus urged the youth to be prepared for opportunities that may come their way.
Mr McKorley revealed that his company was able to create 20 businesses the previous season and is ready to help with more this season.
“The last season, we were able to build 20 businesses. Some of them are doing so well. It is not about the money to support you but every time, it’s the person behind the business.”

During the inspection, MAPAQ found that the restaurant failed to maintain proper cleanliness, with issues related to pests, including rodents and insects. As a result, the franchise was slapped with a $2,000 fine. The ruling, handed down by the Montreal Municipal Court on March 24, 2025, confirmed the fine, citing that the premises must be free of contaminants, pollutants, and any type of pests or their droppings.</p><p>In a separate case, another Tim Hortons franchise, also located in the east end, at 10725 Boulevard Henri-Bourassa East, was fined $1,000 following a June 4, 2024 inspection. This location was found to be in violation of food temperature regulations. The inspection revealed that the restaurant failed to properly cool perishable items, such as dairy and prepared foods, to the required temperature of 4°C or lower, which is crucial to ensuring food safety. The court's ruling, issued on March 24, 2025, confirmed the fine and emphasized the need for maintaining strict temperature controls in food establishments.</p><p>However, these are not isolated cases. Other big-name franchises have also faced penalties recently for similar infractions. For example, the well-known Montreal brasserie <em>Les 3 Brasseurs</em> was fined a whopping $4,000 on March 24, 2025, for sanitation issues. An inspection on March 12, 2024, uncovered that the restaurant had failed to keep its premises free from contaminants, including insects and rodents.</p><p><a href="https://www.mtlblog.com/montreal-restaurants-burger-king-fine" target="_blank">Burger King also made the list</a>, with a $2,000 fine issued on March 26, 2025.
