A man wanted for a July murder at Cadotte Lake in northern Alberta triggered a Saturday ‘shelter in place’ warning from RCMP.

Police in Peace River warned that Brenon Blake Gray, wanted on a warrant for the July killing of 35-year-old Romeo Flett, has been reportedly seen riding a quad in the Cadotte Lake area.

“Peace Regional RCMP are advising residents in the Cadotte Lake area to shelter in place. Please stay inside you homes,” said the news release from RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Gina Slaney, adding the Gray may be armed on the stolen quad.

“Alberta RCMP are activating additional resources to protect the community and to search for Gray.”

Flett was fatally shot at a home in Cadotte Lake on July 26. He was flown to Edmonton via air ambulance but later succumbed to his injuries, said police.

RCMP issued an earlier shelter in place warning for the community of Cadotte Lake in the wake of the shooting.

Gray, a resident of the Woodland Cree First Nation, has facial tattoos, and is about 185 pounds, 5 foot 8 inches tall with brown hair and eyes.

Cadotte Lake is one of four reserves that make up Woodland Cree First Nation, which is about 85 km northeast of Peace River and about 500 km northwest of Edmonton.
