Chidimma ‘Bella’ Okagbue has been crowned the second runner-up of Big Brother Naija season 7. She was announced the second runner-up at the BBNaija finale on Sunday, October 2, 2022, where Phyna was crowned the winner.
Bella emerged the runner-up after polling 15.78% of the total votes in the show’s final week just behind 3 of the top 6 finalists — Adekunle Tobilola Olopade, Chinenyenwa ‘Chichi’ Okoebor, and Daniella Utangbe.
Brian ‘Bryann’ Chijoke emerged as the first runner-up as he amassed 26.74% of the total votes, and Phyna emerged the winner of the Level Up season after gathering 48.74% of the final votes.
“I had the best time,” an emotional Bella said while speaking to the show host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu after her eviction on Sunday night
The Level Up season, pitching 28 housemates against one another — 4 more than the 24 from the previous edition — featured never-before-seen twists and turns. The season’s first twist was the introduction of two house levels, which ramped up the show’s intensity and made for some perfectly played inter-level drama. Then came the ‘untouchable’ riders, followed by the Level 3 house and the Supreme Veto Power, which saw Chichi choose two other housemates to make it to the finals with her.
Amidst all the twists, pranks, and surprises from Biggie, Bella, a 25-year-old digital content creator, impressed fans with her strong personality and sense of style as she topped the BBNaija analytics charts for weeks as one of the top five most talked about housemates.
‘Big Bella’, as she is fondly called by her fandom — Rebellz, was known for her outspokenness, no-nonsense attitude, style, and dedication to winning tasks. Bella did not only rattle housemates in the BBNaija house, but her relationships in the house caused a stir outside the house.
From the start, she had shown that she was not in the house to make friends but to win the grand prize. Although she did not make it, it was refreshing to see a housemate that was unapologetically herself.
Bella had on one occasion reached the final stages of the Head of House games, but she never won. Still, she managed to make an impression on her fans that made her the topic of discussion for weeks and kept her in the house as she was up for nominations multiple times.
According to daily BBNaija analytics released by ID Africa, a Lagos-based Media, Technology, and Marketing company, the last four days before the finale, Bella was always on the list of Top 5 housemates leading online conversations.
Although Bella is a runner-up, through her dedication to tasks, she has earned over 2 million in the house. Being one of the housemates to have earned over a million, a lot is to come for the reality TV star as she is looking to debuting in the fashion industry with the release of her swimwear line.
In its seventh-season run, the BBNaija show has continued to draw a record audience across Africa as the biggest reality show on the continent.
The show’s guarantee of fame and wealth from brand endorsements has continued to inspire many young Nigerians to audition for reality shows. Organisers say they received over 40,000 applications for BBNaija season 7.
The grand finale aired live on DStv channel 198 and GOtv channel 29, featuring live performances by Nigerian superstars Falz, MI Abaga, and Pheelz.
