Colombo, Nov 8 (NewsWire) – The vacancies at three institutions under the purview of the Ministry of Finance, Economic Stabilization, and National Policies have surpassed 1500.
According to reports, there are 773 vacancies at the Sri Lanka Customs Department, 434 at the Inland Revenue Department, and 331 at the Excise Department.

The vacancies have occurred following the amendment to the retirement age of government workers from 65- 60 years, with many having to retire by 31st December 2022.
State Minister of Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya says new appointments will not be made due to the current economic crisis, and instead, the ministry will fill the vacancies with suitable graduates currently employed at the Finance Ministry.
He further said that the appointments will be made without violating the existing employment rules of the departments, and candidates will be required to sit for the competitive examination which is conducted with the approval of the Cabinet and National Services Commission.
