For the second consecutive year, Tems has been nominated for the Grammys. The music star earned three Grammy nominations for her feature on Future’s Grammy-nominated single ‘Wait For U’ featuring Drake and Beyonce’s Grammy-nominated album ‘Renaissance’.
In two years, the Grammy-nominated star earned her first No.1 Billboard Hot 100 single with ‘Wait For U’ in April 2022, thereby making her the African female artiste to top the chart.
She also had other major achievements in the past two years as she earned her first Grammy nomination with Wizkid’s ‘Essence’ in the Global Music Performance category and became the first African female musician to win the Best International Act at the BET Awards.
Tems has been on an amazing run this year as she earned her fourth Billboard Hot 100 single with her song ‘Free Mind’. She also featured on the album for the Marvel Film ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ for her cover of Bob Marley’s ‘No Woman, No Cry’ and songwriting credits for Rihanna’s ‘Lift Me Up’.
‘Wait For U’ by Future ft Tems and Drake was nominated in the ‘Best Melodic Rap Performance’ category alongside DJ Khaled featuring Future and SZA’s ‘Beautiful’, Jack Harlow’s ‘First Class’, Kendrick Lamar featuring Blxst and Amanda Reifer’s ‘Die Hard’ and Latto’s ‘Big Energy (Live)’.
For the Best Rap Song ‘Wait For U’ was nominated alongside Jack Harlow featuring Drake’s ‘Churchill Downs’, DJ Khaled featuring Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, John Legend and Fridayy’s ‘God Did’, Kendrick Lamar’s ‘The Heart Part 5’, Gunna and Future featuring Young Thug’s ‘Pushin P’.
In the Album of the Year category, Tems is credited as a songwriter for the song ‘Move’ on Beyonce’s ‘Renaissance’. The album is nominated alongside ABBA’s ‘Voyage’, Adele’s ‘30’, Bad Bunny’s ‘Un Verano Sin Ti’, Mary J. Blige’s ‘Good Morning Gorgeous (Deluxe)’, Brandi Carlile’s ‘In These Silent Days’, Coldplay’s ‘Music of the Spheres’, Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers’, Lizzo’s ‘Special’ and Harry Styles’ ‘Harry’s House’.
