Many variants of the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra have received the Android 13 (One UI 5.0) update across the globe. Unfortunately, the carrier-unlocked versions of the device in the US aren’t one of them. While the users of these phones eagerly wait for the Android 13 update, Samsung is pushing the December 2022 security patch to their devices.

The latest firmware for the carrier-unlocked variant of the Galaxy S20 (SM-G981U1), Galaxy S20+(SM-G986U1), and Galaxy S20 Ultra (SM-G988U1) comes with version G98XU1UES3FVK4 and brings the December 2022 security patch, which fixes a total of 93 security vulnerabilities.

If you own one of these smartphones and live in the US, you should soon get a prompt to update your device. But if you haven’t received the notification yet, you can check for the update manually by going to Settings » Software updates and tapping on Download and install. You can also download the firmware from our database and install it manually.

The Galaxy S20 series was launched with Android 10 out of the box. The devices in the series are supposed to get three versions of Android. It means the Android 13 update, which brings One UI 5.0 and will be the last major update for these smartphones. You can check out all the features that Android 13 and One UI 5.0 offer in our YouTube video below.
