A Brisbane mother and a Sydney father have two of the three winning tickets that have split Powerball’s $100 million jackpot.
Each of the three winning entries collects a prize of $33,333,333 to enter the new year much richer.
The Brisbane winner, from Durrack, said she bought herself the ticket for Christmas.
As well as the division one win, she also scored the second division 19 times, bolstering her total winnings to $34,234,773.14.
“I’m shaking,” she said when contacted by the Lott officials.
“I just jumped to the roof and screamed. The kids thought a cockroach was in the kitchen.”
The mum said she had no plans to quit work despite her new fortune.
“This will definitely change our lives. This will not only help my family, but also help us move forward with a better life.
“Wow. This is going to be fantastic. It’s going to make a huge difference. I’m lost for words.
“This is going to help ease the pressure, but I’ll keep working as I love it.
“This is an amazing end to the year. It’s the best ever. Dreams really do come true.”
Sydney dad needs ‘to pinch myself’
The Sydney father, from Burwood, yelled to his wife “we can do whatever we want … we’ve just won the lottery” when he was contacted by officials.
He said it wasn’t very regularly played Powerball, according to the Lott officials.
“Are you f—— kidding me? Jesus Christ,” he said.
“Mate, you are the man. This is incredible.
“I am absolutely speechless. We only play from time to time. In fact, we play Powerball very rarely.
“My wife said, ‘why not, let’s buy a ticket in the draw’.
“I’m so glad we did.”
The man said the win had “completely changed my family’s life in the space of five minutes”.
“I don’t even know where to begin. Am I dreaming? I need to pinch myself to make sure this is real.”
The third winning ticket was purchased online in NSW and lottery officials have not yet been able to reach them.
The winning numbers of draw 1389 on Thursday December 29 were 9, 26, 4, 23, 22, 6 and 24, and the Powerball was 18.
