Group Offers 1,000 Niger Patients Free Medical Services

A non-governmental organisation under the auspices of G-15 has offered free medical services to over 1000 poor and vulnerable people in Bosso local government area of Niger State.

The annual medical outreach carried out by the organisation is in its fourth year and was held at Makunkele in Bosso.

The programme coordinator, Bala Ahmed Maikunkele said it was aimed at impacting on the lives of others through free medical outreach and imbibe the spirit of community development.

One of the service providers, Dr Joseph Saidu Barde, said about 100 of the people receiving treatment were expected to go for surgery.

He stated that minor surgeries are carried out at the Makunkele Primary Healthcare but major surgeries are being referred to Minna General Hospital but are to be paid for by the organisation.

The director, Makunkele Primary Healthcare, Hassan Usman, appreciated the sponsor (G-15) saying that ailments treated include hypertension, diabetes, eyes, among others.

A beneficiary, Rahmat Hassan decried the fact that most of them could not afford their medical bills, and thanked the sponsor of the exercise.
