An Edmonton man is facing charges after 11 dogs believed to be neglected were seized from a home east of the city.
On Jan. 28, Strathcona County RCMP responded to a report of an animal in distress at a home in Sherwood Park. Eleven dogs that appeared to be malnourished and neglected were found in the home. They were seized and transported to the Edmonton Humane Society by Strathcona County Enforcement Services.
Police have since charged Alex Joseph McGrath, 26, with 11 counts of causing animals unnecessary suffering and 12 counts of failure to comply.
McGrath has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Sherwood Park provincial court on Feb. 15.
With the support of the Edmonton Humane Society, the seized dogs are receiving veterinary care and will be put up for adoption.
