Ever since it released the February 2023 security update to the Galaxy Note 20, Samsung has accelerated the pace of the update’s release. The update has now reached a lot more phones. The latest Galaxy phones to get the new security update are the unlocked versions of the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra in the US.
The latest software update for the unlocked versions of the Galaxy S21 series comes with firmware version G99xU1UES5DWB2 in the US. The update brings the February 2023 security patch that fixes over forty vulnerabilities found in Samsung smartphones. The update could soon be released to carrier-locked versions of the phones in the lineup.
If you live in the US and if you have an unlocked Galaxy S21 series phone, you can install the new update by heading to Settings » Software update on your phone and tapping Download and install. You can also download the new firmware from our firmware database and flash it manually.
The Galaxy S21 series launched with Android 11 onboard. Samsung released the Android 12 update to the smartphones in late 2021, and the Android 13 update was released towards the end of 2022. The phones will get two more Android OS updates in the future.
