Colombo, February 10: General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee of Pakistan, was accorded a red carpet reception and a traditional welcome on his arrival at Colombo. Gen. Mirza is on his first overseas visit after taking over as CJCSC. He is here at the invitation of his counterpart General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defense Staff, Sri Lanka.
Later in the day, he called on General Shavendra Silva Sri Lanka at his office. On arrival, the visting General was presented guard of honor by a smartly turned-out contingent of Sri Lankan tri-services. Both commanders had a detailed discussion on enhancing defense cooperation between the two friendly armed forces. The Chairman will call on the President of Sri Lanka, Secretary Defense and Tri-Services Chiefs during his stay in Sri Lanka.
