The death of a young man found dead in a northeast Edmonton street has been confirmed as a homicide.

Police continue to work at a scene near 14544 72 St. following a suspicious death in Edmonton, Wednesday March 15, 2023. At about 6:25 a.m., police responded to a weapons complaint north of 144 Avenue and 72 Street. When officers arrived, they found a male lying dead in the street.

The death of a young man found dead in a northeast Edmonton street has been confirmed as a homicide.

On March 15, Edmonton police responded to a weapons complaint north of 144 Avenue and 72 Street. When officers arrived, they found 20-year-old Usama Ibrahinidan lying dead in the street.

An autopsy completed on Monday confirmed he died of gunshot wounds and his manner of death is homicide.

Investigators are asking anyone with dashcam or surveillance footage from the area between 6 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. to contact police.

Ibrahinidan’s death is the 12th confirmed homicide of the year.
