Rema has broken yet another record as the remix of his hit single ‘Calm Down’ featuring American singer Selena Gomez has peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
‘Calm Down’ remix, which is currently the highest-charting Nigerian song on the chart, breaks Wizkid’s record for ‘Essence’. ‘Essence’ remix with Justin Bieber and Tems peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The remix, which he released on August 25, 2023, has broken multiple records, including the record for the first African song to enter the Top 10 US Billboard Digital Song Sales Chart. The single has also amassed over 900 million streams worldwide since its release.
Aside from ‘Calm Down’, his debut album ‘Rave & Roses’ is also breaking records in the international scene as it became the first ever debut album by a Nigerian act to spend 30 weeks on the Billboard World Albums Chart.
In three months, the music star has become one of the first Nigerian artistes to perform at the NBA All-Star game while the visuals to his single ‘Calm Down’ has become the most streamed Nigerian song on YouTube. Also, he has released two chart-topping singles, ‘Holiday’ and ‘Reason You’. Holiday has currently amassed over 19 million streams worldwide since its release on February 16, 2023.
It’s just the first half of the year, and Rema is showing no sign of slowing down.
