The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been told to cancel the governorship election in Rivers State in the just concluded governorship and state assembly election.

Cole and his colleagues who alleged that the mandate of the people of Rivers had been stolen told pressmen at a briefing on Monday night that INEC has to cancel the election, following “widespread violence and irregularities” during its conduct.

While Cole called for calm among his supporters, the candidates of the NRM and ADC claimed that however advised his supporters to remain calm the March 18 election in the state was characterised by violence and intimidation and it was too glaring to ignore by INEC.

It would be however recalled that the commission had earlier declared Fubara, the “anointed” candidate of governor Nyesom Wike winner of Saturday’s polls.

Fubara emerged winner by defeating Cole with 302,614 votes as against his 95,274 votes.
